Whales were being chased by humans who wanted them for the sake of wealth. Sometimes, they even raided unknown islands and stole from tribes who had nothing but their hands to defend what was theirs. Why?Szovren had tried his best. He had given all of his power to prevent such things from happening. But disasters kept repeating themselves. Were they not afraid of him, the demigod? Or did they not believe in him, so his power disappeared within his soul?Maybe the latter was true. He needed living beings to believe in him and worship him so that his power would return and he would be as powerful as he once was. But for now, he knew that was impossible.Being a stray demigod whom nobody placed their faith in was hard. He had been born from a sea god and a human mother from a tribe that had long since disappeared. His mother had died, and his father hadn’t wanted to acknowledge or accept him as one of his bloodline. So, he lived his life jumping from one island to another, helping tribes in need, protecting sea creatures that humans hunted down in great numbers and fighting pirates that raided the islands. Swim, swim, swim. He had wanted to be surrounded by living beings who could give him power and who would trust him to be the protector of the sea. He gained their trust. The Aradatsa and Manaki tribes placed all their faith in him, worshipped him and made him the most powerful god of the tides. But sadly, for some reason, something terrible got in his way. The volcanic eruption that triggered a great earthquake in 1600. No matter how powerful he had been at that time, he couldn’t protect those two islands with all his might. The tribes vanished before his eyes, just like that. That day happened so fast that it felt like a mere dream to him. He kept going to sleep only to wake up and find that the next day was still the same. The hellish scenery of sinking islands, turned black by the cold lava, was still there in front of his eyes.He mourned and mourned and mourned, to the point where he fell unconscious for decades and met his mother in a dream. She told him he had to continue to live and find people who would believe in him. She said that everything that had happened to the Aradatsa and Manaki tribes was not his fault, that he could save them from any harm, but he couldn’t save them from their own destiny as nobody was capable of doing so, not even his father. When he woke up, he realized he had to leave and venture to unknown places, helping other tribes and protecting sea creatures like he used to.Yet, even up until then, nothing had changed. No matter how hard he tried to gain trust, nobody trusted him the way the Aradatsa and Manaki people had, let alone worship him. Maybe it was time for him to give up, to find another way to live, another place to go. Besides, the tribes could now take care of themselves without him, judging by how they still lived happily in peace while he had been stuck in his long sleep. One day, after protecting sea creatures from hunters, he got the idea to track down and hunt some of the ships, playing a reverse card on those terrible humans so they wouldn’t dare to come again. But then, he heard melodies that sounded familiar yet unknown to him. The hum, the sweet voice. He knew he had heard it before when he was little, but he couldn’t figure out what it was. The voice distracted him for a few seconds and that gave the hunters an opportunity to shoot a cannon. His weakened self couldn’t withstand the impact. He was lucky he didn’t get torn into pieces, but instead passed out and ended up on a big island that looked nothing like the ones he had known all his life. The place looked far too modern, to the point where he barely understood how things worked. But the trace of the melodies he had heard was still so clear, tingling in his ears and urging him to find a way to the source. And so, his new journey began…
